Maps of Our Dam Town (EN)

Maps have been around for centuries, they help us explore the world and get from the proverbial A to B. Now, we love Amsterdam – it has more bikes than people, new restaurants popping-up like mushrooms, restaurants only selling mushrooms and over 160 canals for maximum boating pleasure. But, the City of Amsterdam has made us love it even more by creating a series of maps that help people explore every detail of our great little city.

From seemingly useless maps such as ‘in which oak trees last year caterpillar nests were found’, to an overview of the ‘chestnut bleeding disorder’. To more practical maps like the property value per square meter map (great when buying a house) or the noise map (good to check when planning a romantic picnic).

We really like the map where you can compare the size of Amsterdam to any other location on the planet.

However our favorite map is the one that shows Amsterdam’s growth over time and the amazing 3D animation of how the city center was built, building by building, created by the City’s Archive.

HAVE FUN EXPLORING THE ‘DAM!
